Sylvia Schyberg is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) specializing in working with young adults seeking guidance and parents.She maintains a private practice in Colorado Springs, CO.
With over 16 years of experience working in the mental health field, she has experience with a broad spectrum of situations, such as children behaviors, anxiety, cultural difficulties, military life issues, adoption and attachment issues, child development, behavior and emotional problems, parenting, spiritual questions and healing, as well as trauma concerns.
Sylvia grew up in Germany, and moved to the US after marrying a service member. She went to school in Washington State, and is a graduate of Auburn University and the University of Alabama. She received a certificate in animal and human health connection from Denver University and is currently working on her certificate in Internal Family Systems. She also studies a variety of other non-traditional and complementary approaches.
Being a military family, Sylvia also has worked with the foster care system and adoption agencies, and has adopted two of her children, which provided a personal insight into adoption and attachment issues. More recently, Sylvia has delved into the gifted community and issues gifted children may face, specifically anxiety.
Sylvia has presented at conferences and general audiences speaking on the topics of stress management, leading a balanced life and parenting issues.
Sylvia is an interactive IFS therapist. Her therapeutic approach is close to that of a coach, in order to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with the individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
