Sylvia Schyberg is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and maintains a private practice in Colorado Springs, CO. She specializes in working with older teens and adults, and in supporting parents. Sylvia also enjoys working with other therapists.

With over 18 years of experience working in the mental health field, she has experience with a broad spectrum of situations, such as behavioral and emotional concerns, anxiety, cultural difficulties, military life issues, adoption and attachment issues, child development, parenting gifted and spirited children, spiritual questions and healing, as well as trauma concerns.

Sylvia grew up in Germany, and moved to the US after marrying a service member. She went to school in Washington State, and is a graduate of Auburn University and the University of Alabama. She received a Certificate in Animal and Human Health Connection from Denver University. Since April 2022 she is a Certified IFS Therapist.

Being a military family, Sylvia also has worked with the foster care system and adoption agencies, and has adopted two children of her own, which provided a personal insight into adoption and attachment issues. More recently, Sylvia has delved into the gifted community and issues gifted children may face, specifically anxiety.

Sylvia has presented at conferences and general audiences speaking on the topics of stress management, leading a balanced life and parenting issues.

    My Approach

I consider myself to be an interactive IFS therapist, or actually, a holistic healer. You are the expert on you, and I’m your guide or coach, in order to provide support and practical feedback to help you effectively address personal life challenges. As mentioned, I integrate complementary methodologies and techniques if that’s what you would feel comfortable with. My intention is to lead with compassion and understanding, in order to empower you and build on your strengths to attain your personal goal.

As a Social Worker and human being, I strive to be socially conscious, and am committed to continue my own understanding in cultural and ethnic diversity, while being aware of my own privilege and limitations. I strive to help end discrimination, oppression, poverty and other forms of social injustice through public education and social justice advocacy.
